Congratulations are in order for Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black! The couple have grown their family, and have welcomed their second child into the world. The 28-year-old Olympic diver and his 48-year-old director husband — who are already parents to 4-year-old Robert Ray Black-Daley — shared the surprising news on April 5 via an announcement in The Times.
While the couple hadn’t publicly revealed they were expecting a second child, the news of their son’s birth was shared with the outlet, reading: “Births: Black-Daley on March 28 to Thomas Robert Daley and Dustin Lance Black, a son, Phoenix Rose.” Reps for Daley later confirmed the news to POPSUGAR.
The couple previously welcomed Robert Ray via surrogacy on June 27,2018 after announcing they were growing their brood in February of that year. Their first child is named after Daley’s late father, who tragically died of a brain tumor in May 2011. Their first baby came a year after they tied the knot at Bovey Castle Hotel in Dartmoor National Park in Daley’s home county of Devon.
While Daley’s personal life is blossoming, his work life is continuing to flourish, too. The Olympic gold medalist received an OBE last year for services to diving, his charity work, and his support of LGBTQ+ rights. His successful knitting brand, Made With Love, is thriving, with previous fashion collections and a book released in 2022, and he was announced as the first male global ambassador for Rimmel London. While the star is undoubtedly busy, he understands that taking time out with his family is nonnegotiable, telling POPSUGAR, “As I’ve got older, I’ve realised that there’s actual power and strength in taking a step back to allow your body to heal, your mind to heal, and move forward from that.”
We can’t wait to see more of Daley’s gorgeous family!
