Tobey Maguire’s Ex-wife Slams Claim He’s Dating 20-Year-Old Model

Maguire and Chee kept the Internet buzzing about an alleged relationship after they were spotted leaving Michael Rubin’s star-studded all-white party with his hands on her lower back.

However, Jennifer Meyer is not buying into the rumors, calling them “nonsense” and claiming Tobey Maguire was “only helping a friend to her car.”

Rumors have been swirling around the “Spider-Man” actor and his alleged romance with 20-year-old model Lily Chee after Maguire appeared to be handsy with her as they left Michael Rubin’s white party together on the fourth of July.

The photos then spurred an Instagram troll to ask Meyer why her ex-husband was “banging someone 3 years older than” their daughter.

As seen on X (formerly Twitter), she clapped back in her reply to the “rude comment,” noting that Maguire was “being a good guy” by “kindly helping a friend to her car.”

Another alleged conversation with the same troll had her set the record straight, writing, “Don’t believe everything you read (I’m sure you were taught that somewhere) Tobey is as good of a guy as it gets.”

Neither Maguire nor Chee have confirmed nor denied the speculations.

Several fans came to Meyer’s defense wondering why she had to answer for the actor, while others were left puzzled as to how one’s ex would know so much about their former partner’s romantic life.

A fan said Meyer “shouldn’t have to answer” for the “Great Gatsby” star’s actions as they’re no longer together, adding that they “don’t know why she bothered to reply.”

“This is a question for Tobey, not his ex-wife. They’re divorced! The f-ck do people expect her to do about it?” another fan questioned.

A third person said, “She’s saving face for their children’s sake. What other excuse can she use than ‘helping a friend to her car?’ It’s the most obviously canned excuse. Laughable actually. She should’ve just not said anything. It’s not like her one reply in a sea of a hundred comments is going to change the narrative about that picture. Odd that she replied.”

Maguire and Meyer married in 2007, and both share two children: their 17-year-old daughter Ruby and their 15-year-old son Otis. They separated in 2016 but continue to co-parent their teenage kids together.

However, during a 2022 appearance on the “World’s First Podcast,” the 47-year-old jewelry designer seemed to imply that co-parenting with Maguire is challenging, saying, “co-parenting is a motherf-cker.”

“It was a choice, and it was trusting in, like, the universe has got our back,” Meyer explained, per Page Six. “But let me tell you something, the work is a motherf-cker.”

She later acknowledged that they gave it their all, and it resulted in a “beautiful family,” adding that their “beautiful breakup” was the “most beautiful experience” of her life.

Speaking on the podcast, Meyer noted that she and Maguire now share a friendly relationship and even talk about each other’s love life.

“Now we talk about our significant others [like], ‘Hey, you got the kids? I’m going for a weekend away,'” she told hosts Sara Foster and Gabby Bernstein. “Now it’s like … ‘Hey, I’m having a hard day’ or ‘Hey, you did this, it really bummed me out.'”

Elsewhere on the show, she shared that she’ll “do anything in the world” for her ex-husband.

“I can’t even explain [it],” she said of their bond. “I would literally do anything in the world for Tobey. He is my brother. I love him to death and we have the most beautiful family.”

Even after their separation in 2016, Meyer Didn’t file for divorce from the actor until October 2020, when she demanded joint, legal, and physical custody of their kids.

According to reports, the now-exes called their children their “first priority” in their initial separation documents and said at the time that they’d raise them “with enduring love, respect and friendship.”

Meyer previously shared in a conversation with US Weekly that her goal in co-parenting is to avoid making her children “unhappy.”

She explained, “Remember that you love your kids equally more than anything in the world and that you want the best for them.”
