Timothée Chalamet Set for SNL as Both Host and Musical Guest

Timothée Chalamet’s Oscar-worthy performance as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown drew rave reviews in part due to his decision to sing Dylan’s songs himself. On Saturday, January 25th, he’ll get to showcase his musical chops in front of a live studio audience when he serves as both host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

Chalamet has hosted SNL twice before, but this will of course mark his first time appearing as a musical guest. According to The Hollywood Reporter, only 41 people in the show’s 50-year history have taken on the dual role of host and musical guest. Chalamet will also be the first non-performer to serve as a musical guest since Deion Sanders in 1995.

Presumably Chalamet will play a pair of Dylan songs from A Complete Unknown, which traces the legendary songwriter’s early years in New York City. The soundtrack includes covers of songs like “Highway 61 Revisited,” “Mr. Tambourine Man,” “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall,” “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “Maggie’s Farm,” “Like a Rolling Stone,” and more.

Prior to Chalamet’s episode, Dave Chappell will host SNL on December 18th with musical guest GloRilla. It will mark the comedian’s fourth turn as host.
