On Wednesday night, Fendi feted the reopening of their newly expanded Design District boutique with a party hosted by Silvia Venturini Fendi and Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou. VIP Guests including Ella Hunt, Storm Reid, and Alix Earle shopped to the sounds of DJ Isabella Massenet while a slew of monogram-adorned clients gossiped about their latest Art Week acquisitions. To get a taste of the party and the playful new renovation, we invited social media maven Ollie Muhl to take a trip through the pastel colored space and document stand out details including roman arches, a Baguette bag-covered wall, and an oh-so-cozy lounge with Fendi-focused reading materials. After the event, our senior editor sat down with the 21-year-old creator to talk french fries, fashion, and TikTok as performance art.

TAYLORE SCARABELLI: How are you feeling?
OLLIE MUHL: I’m feeling good.
SCARABELLI: You really let loose in there. You explored every inch of that space.
MUHL: Yeah. I was almost crawling around. I was in my element, and I felt like myself, so that’s a good thing.
SCARABELLI: I mean, it was pretty cozy in there. It had a bit of a playroom vibe.
MUHL: Yeah, I enjoyed it. The people were nice. The vibes were good. The food was also amazing.
SCARABELLI: Have you been to the Design District before?
MUHL: I have not been to the Design District, so I’m experiencing this for the first time and it’s crazy.
SCARABELLI: It’s like luxury Disneyland.
MUHL: Oh yeah.
SCARABELLI: We’re literally sitting by monkey bars.
MUHL: We’re in a Fendi jungle gym. Who knew that that would exist?
SCARABELLI: It’s fabulous. Okay. So at this store opening, what did you see that you wanted to buy?
MUHL: To be honest, my favorite piece was the jacket that I’m wearing currently, and I saw it on a mannequin while I was in there and I knew, “Okay, I’ve got to get this.” There’s a bunch of food items all over it and I feel like—
SCARABELLI: It says, “Always fresh” underneath the french fry patch. I feel like that’s a good slogan for you.
MUHL: I think so too. A lot of times, fashion can be very serious and I like that Fendi has kind of taken more of a playful approach to design with this jacket. And also the fries… Let’s talk about the fries.
SCARABELLI: Oh wow, you even have leather fries on your handbag. How do they taste?
MUHL: I actually did not try them. [Laughs]
SCARABELLI: Did you see any cuties at the event tonight?
MUHL: There were lots of mommies in there. I’m not going to lie. I was feeling a little rosy in the cheeks. I was trying to play cool. Trying to be confident.
SCARABELLI: Mommies in monogram.
MUHL: Yes. And we all know that confidence is the number one accessory above all else, so that’s what I was fighting for.
SCARABELLI: Yeah, but I did see you looking a little shy in there, hiding behind some plants.
MUHL: [Laughs] Yes, I was hiding behind some plants.
SCARABELLI: Okay, so it is art week. Are you into art?
MUHL: I don’t know if I’m into traditional art, but I see art and a lot of different things. I see art and content creation and I try to see it as each video is a big art project for myself.
SCARABELLI: Well, I think that TikTok is performance art and no one’s really talking about that.
MUHL: I agree. I think we’re underrated. I think that they look at it as a bunch of silly, fun little videos, but I see it as something more than that.
SCARABELLI: Yeah. So I guess you’re not going to make it to the fair though because you have to leave tomorrow?
MUHL: Yeah. I was in and out.
SCARABELLI: This trip was all about fashion and french fries.
MUHL: And confidence.
SCARABELLI: What are you going to do when you get home? You live in L.A.?
MUHL: No, I live in—I don’t live anywhere right now. I’m just traveling around. But when I get back to home base I’m going to take the fattest nap of my entire life because this has been strenuous. It’s lot of energy to look this good.
SCARABELLI: Well you make it look so easy. Thank you for your service.
MUHL: Hey, thank you.
