Following their April 2024 collaboration, “Primrose Hill,” Sean Ono Lennon and James McCartney — the sons of The Beatles’ John Lennon and Paul McCartney — have reunited for a new track, this time joined by Ringo Starr’s son Zak Starkey. The song, titled “Rip Off,” is the latest release from Starkey’s supergroup Mantra of the Cosmos.
Shared by Starkey on his Instagram page, the track features the three Beatles’ sons alongside the other members of Mantra of the Cosmos, comprised of Oasis bassist Andy Bell, and Happy Mondays members Shaun Ryder and Mark “Bez” Berry. Stream the lengthy snippet of “Rip Off” below.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, where he first teased the track, Starkey brushed off any comparisons to The Beatles. “No, it’s not [like a Beatles song],” he said. “It’s like Mantra of the Cosmos with them in it. It’s Sean of the Cosmos and James of the Cosmos, it’s still my band.”

During that same interview, Starkey also opened up about recently being fired, re-hired, fired again, and then told that he was “retired” by The Who, and claimed it cost him the opportunity to play on Oasis’ reunion tour. However, these comments contradict what he said during an appearance on BBC Breakfast, when he explained he was “gutted” about not being asked to drum with Oasis.
While his work with The Who and Oasis is on hold for the time being, Starkey is focused on Mantra of the Cosmos. Last week, the group brought their Noel Gallagher collaboration, “Domino Bones (Gets Dangerous),” to streaming services after an initial limited vinyl run. Listen to that below.
In an accompanying statement, Starkey said: “Working with people like Noel, Shaun, Andy, and Bez is always a pleasure — these are the greatest musicians of their generation. We have more singles coming this year with some VERY special guests – this is the year of the Mantra!”
This news all comes as The Who and Oasis are set to begin their respective tours next month. The Who will kick off their purported farewell tour in Europe, followed by a North American leg (get tickets here) place in August and September. Meanwhile, the Oasis reunion tour has UK and Ireland dates scheduled for July and August, before they head to stadiums in North America, Asia, Australia, and South America. Get tickets here.
