His birth name is Theodore Peter James Kinnerd Taptiklis. Not exactly marquee-friendly, eh? Better to just call him Theo James, a man whose time has come in the entertainment industry.
With the hot Netflix series The Gentlemen, a TV version of Guy Ritchie’s hit movie that Ritchie has brought to the small screen, and with leftover goodwill and undeniable heat from Season 2 of The White Lotus, James never has been in higher demand.
He joins me today for this week’s edition of my Deadline video series The Actor’s Side not just to talk about both of those projects, which he does in detail, but numerous other landmarks in his career. It got rolling in earnest with his appearance in Season 1 of Downton Abbey and later took off in a couple of Underworld movies and as fan favorite Tobias “Four” Eaton in the Divergent movies. We also talk about his upcoming Stephen King movie The Monkey, in which he plays twins and which was just the object of a bidding war for domestic distribution. Neon landed it this week in Cannes.
He’s also becoming a producer, has been a musician in more than a dozen bands along the way and tells me what he learned from Bryan Cranston. Plus much, much more.
