The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that we have to consider whether a Dylan McAvoy (last played by Steve Burton) recast might be in the works. Will Sharon Rosales’ (Sharon Case) ex-husband come out of witness protection?
For starters, there was already some buzz about a new leading man joining the show and potentially being paired up with Sharon.
Now Trevor St. John has joined the cast in a mysterious new role and will first air this fall.
There’s no guarantee that St. John’s character will end up with Sharon, but it’s worth mulling over.
Since Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) is dead, it’d be quite the twist for Sharon to lose one husband and get another one back!
Dylan and Sharon divorced, but that was only because he was forced into witness protection due to a serious threat.
If that threat is eliminated, it could lead to Trevor St. John coming back as a Dylan recast.
That brings us to Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) investigation into Diane Jenkins’ (Susan Walters) time out in Los Angeles.
Nikki’s investigation will uncover a surprising link to the past – one that’ll have an impact on Nikki and everyone else involved in this storyline.
Does Diane know exactly where Dylan is and how to find him?
Perhaps the threat is already gone, but Dylan just doesn’t currently have any interest in resuming his old life in Genoa City.
If Diane is sitting on information about Nikki’s biological son, you can bet Nikki’s going to be even more furious with her.
That’s especially true if Diane was romantically involved with Dylan or caught up in some scheme with him.
It’s possible Dylan took a shady turn in his time off canvas, so that’s something else to keep in mind.
Whatever the case, St. John would be in the right age range for a Dylan McAvoy recast.
Y&R Head Writer and Co-Executive Producer Josh Griffith created the character of Dylan in 2013, so he might be particularly interested in bringing back his creation.
There’s also the matter of Nikki’s investigation – which will build to a story in the fall when St. John debuts – and the fact that it’ll seemingly tie her own past to Diane’s stint in LA. Dylan could be the missing link that connects all these dots.
Of course, it’s possible St. John will play a brand-new character or another recast instead, but there’s certainly a chance of a Dylan McAvoy recast showing up in GC.
