For nearly 14 years, they were together. They raised two kids. Why didn’t they get married? For her part, Vanessa Paradis has always been quiet about her personal life. However, Johnny Depp did address the question about why they never married. “I never found myself needing that piece of paper. Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don’t need somebody to say, Ok, you’re married. If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not? But the thing is, I’d be so scared of ruing her last name! She’s got such a great last name,” is what he had to say about it. At the end of the day, our best guess is that they did get married because they did not want to marry one another.
