THE TRAITORS series from both series one and two of the beloved UK show have joined forces to defend Mollie Pearce after her fateful decision.
Nearly 6million people tuned in to The Traitors on Friday night to witness Harry Clark, 23, take home £91,150 after hiding his identity as a traitor through to the end.
Mollie, who was a faithful, was left heartbroken after choosing to defend her longtime ally Harry over Jaz Singh in the final vote, unaware of her friend’s true mission.
As per the show’s rules, if traitors made it to the end of the game without being caught, they got the prize money.
As a result, Mollie has been targeted by cruel trolls for her ‘stupid’ and ‘naive’ decision, which ultimately decided the game’s fate.
In response, Mollie has temporarily quit social media so the dust can settle.
But former players have jumped to her defence to praise the 21-year-old disability model for what she achieved, as well as shutting down haters who have gone after her.
Paul Gorton, who made a name for himself for being a traitor in this year’s series before being double-crossed by Harry, shared a picture of Mollie at the final roundtable, and wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Big shout out to this one. Incredible achievement getting to the final and almost won the show.
“Mollie is amazing, brought a lovely energy into every room she walked into and proved to the country that she is absolutely pure of heart. Let’s send all the support her way.”
He later elaborated further to a fan who responded to say he could appreciate the ‘pressure’ Mollie must have felt in the moment.
“The intensity and stress of that room must have been almost unbearable,” Paul added. “He went with her best and most trusted friend. It’s a game and she didn’t win, same as the 21 other contestants!”
Jasmine Boatswain, a faithful from series one, also jumped in to back Mollie up.
“This girl didn’t receive a SINGLE vote. No one uttered her name ONCE,” she wrote. “Isn’t that the job of a faithful? To gain complete trust in everyone around her?
“Clearly one of the best faithfuls and I’ll hear nothing else!”
Ivan Brett, who appeared on series one of the game show, also gave his backing and wrote: “The more I think about it, and as I listen to her on R2, I feel like Mollie was the real star of this series. I hope she can look back on this with pride: she was amazing.”
The comments come after Mollie admitted she’s been swerving social media as she knew people would be mean to her.
“I’m obviously new to all of that so I’m trying to process it and get my head around it and I’m kind of trying to stay off socials a little bit because I think today is going to be a bit rough,’ she told The Mirror.
“I think it’s very easy for the public to say that I was stupid and stuff like that but at the end of the day I’m 21 and I’ve got emotions – what could I do?’.”
She added: “I think people forget that you’re human when they’re watching it on TV, but we do all have feelings so people should be more cautious with their comments.”
The Traitors is available now in full to stream on BBC iPlayer.
