Tubi Films on Thursday unveiled first look photos for its Western thriller The Thicket, starring Peter Dinklage and Juliette Lewis, also announcing that it will be released in theaters on Friday, September 6.
An adaptation of the novel of the same name by Joe Lansdale, the film watches as fierce bounty hunter Reginald Jones (Dinklage) is recruited by a desperate man to track down a ruthless killer known only as Cutthroat Bill (Lewis). To do so, he rallies a band of unlikely heroes including a grave-digging ex-slave and a street-smart woman-for-hire. Together they embark on a perilous quest to track down Cutthroat Bill that leads them into the deadly “no-man’s-land” known as…The Thicket.
Set to make its French debut the week of September 8th as an official selection of the 50th Deauville American Film Festival, The Thicket also stars Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna), Levon Hawke (Blink Twice), Macon Blair (I Care a Lot), Andrew Schulz (You People), Metallica’s James Hetfield, David Midthunder (On Sacred Ground), Arliss Howard (Mank), Leslie Grace (In the Heights), and Gbenga Akinnagbe (The Old Man).
Chris Kelley wrote the script, with Elliott Lester directing and producing. Pic is also produced by Tubi Films, Dinklage and David Ginsberg of Estuary Films, and Orogen Entertainment. Exec producers included Jeremy Walton and David Lyons in association with Moo Studios, as well as Chad Oakes and Michael Frislev of Nomadic Pictures.
