In the trailer for The Smashing Machine, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is nearly unrecognizable as the mixed martial arts and UFC fighter Mark Kerr.
This shows us a really different side of his acting chops. He’s usually the buff and tough action guy, like he is in the Fast and Furious franchise. Or he’s the buff but also funny guy in films like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Central Intelligence.
This time, he gets to put on his dramatic and pensive hat as he takes to the ring and grapples with the physical pain of his beloved career. Emily Blunt stars alongside Johnson as his wife who sticks by his side through the ups and downs.
