Yesterday, we brought you the story of the internet crying endless happy tears at a video of actor Brendan Fraser receiving a six-minute-long standing ovation following the premiere of his new film The Whale at the Venice Film Festival.
As it turns out, movie fans weren’t the only ones moved by the video of Fraser breaking down into tears, as movie stars such as The Rock — arguably the biggest actor in the world — also felt compelled to chime in on the incredibly heartwarming moment.
Taking to Twitter, The Rock shared an anecdote of how Fraser helped him break into the acting business back when he made his Hollywood debut in the 2001 film The Mummy Returns, in which Fraser was the star.
The Rock shouts out former co-star Brendan Fraser following his six-minute-long standing ovation for his performance in The Whale
“Man this makes me so happy to see this beautiful ovation for Brendan,” The Rock tweeted earlier this week. “He supported me coming into his Mummy Returns franchise for my first ever role, which kicked off my Hollywood career. Rooting for all your success brother and congrats to my bud Darren Aronofsky.”

The Whale, which also stars Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, will hit theaters in the United States on December 9. The film is made by Darren Aronofsky, who has also directed projects such as Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler, and Black Swan.
As for Fraser, in addition to The Whale, he’s also set to feature in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film Killers of the Flower Moon, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons, and Robert De Niro, and will hit theaters next year.
