Today, St. Petersburg, Fla.-based duo The Ries Brothers shared “Corner Store,” showcasing a blend of blues, jam, funk and rock that could only come from a shared upbringing shrouded in sound.
On the track, older brother Charlie (26) sings lead vocals while managing drums and keyboards simultaneously, while the younger brother Kevin Jordan (23) rounds out the song on guitar and background vocals. “Corner Store,” comes from the duo’s upcoming self-titled EP due to release on Aug. 26.
On the self-titled EP, the older Ries brother also handles bass while the younger tackles ukulele, melodica and theremin. The EP was engineered by Bharath “Cheex” Ramanath, who was the original engineer for renowned blues torch bearer Gary Clark Jr. and similarly was produced by Clark Jr.’s original drummer Johnnie Radelat. The EP will also include a track featuring G. Love and Cas Haley.
The video for “Corner Store” was shot at their local venue, The Floridian in St. Petersburgh and directed by Jeff Pliskin. Two weeks after recording the music video, The Ries Brothers headlined the venue.
The Ries Brothers currently have 23 dates laid out for the summer with stops in cities, including New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Chicago and more.
