Similar to how stringent he is with the presentation of his movies, Academy Award-winning director Christopher Nolan is reportedly being very specific about how audiences can initially see the first trailer for his upcoming epic  The Odyssey .

Reports have long indicated that the first trailer for The Odyssey would be attached to the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth, as they’re both Universal Pictures projects and is hitting theaters about a year before The Odyssey will.

Now, unconfirmed reports indicate that The Odyssey teaser will play before all major July releases — Superman, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, etc. — and will not be distributed online for the time being as Nolan wants to preserve, you guessed it, the theatrical experience. FOR A TRAILER!

Over the weekend, the first poster for The Odyssey — which many fans noticed appears to be using the same font style as Oppenheimer , Christopher Nolan’s 2023 Best Picture-winning film — was released.

The Odyssey, currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2026, will star Matt Damon in the lead role of as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Zendaya as Athena, Charlize Theron as Circe, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Benny Safdie as Agamemnon, and Lupita Nyong’o as Clytemnestra.

Additional cast members in Nolan’s sprawling epic are Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Rafi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, Nick E. Tarabay, Jimmy Gonzales, Maurice Compte, Michael Vlamis, Iddo Goldberg, Josh Stewart, Cosmo Jarvis and Ryan Hurst.
