Tonight, the iconic jazz-fusion group–originally formed by Herbie Hancock to record his seminal album Head Hunters, from which their name originates–The Headhunters will bring their 50th-anniversary tour back home for a performance at NOLA Brewing Company at 3001 Tchoupitoulas St.
In February, the musical heavyweights kicked off their 50th-anniversary celebratory tour with an incredible performance at The Brooklyn Bowl in New York, and the ensemble–comprised of original Headhunter Bill Summers, his co-bandleader drummer Mike Clark, New Orleans saxophonist Donald Harrison, bassist Chris Severin and pianist Kyle Roussel–continued to rouse crowds at venues like the Park City Hall in Bridgeport, Conn., Brooklyn Bowl Philly, Boston’s City Winery and Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club throughout the month.
Tonight at 7 p.m., their timeless musical sensibility, ability to push boundaries with abstract compositions, and masterful live improvisation will have no better home than where so much of their sound draws inspiration and continues to influence – New Orleans. During the performance, The Headhunters will enjoy support from Congo to Congo Square.
