The first trailer for Longlegs, the upcoming horror film distributed by up-and-coming studio NEON, has been released. Directed by Oz Perkins, the film stars Maika Monroe and Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage.
Despite the fact that Cage is the second-billed lead of the film behind Monroe, however, the legendary Academy Award-winning actor actually doesn’t seem to appear in the trailer, which only ramps up excitement for the film.
On YouTube, the teaser isn’t even titled as being a trailer, but instead is called “You’ve got the teeth of the hydra upon you” (the description on YouTube also says the same thing).
Here is the official for Longlegs:
FBI Agent Lee Harker is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case that takes unexpected turns, revealing evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again.
The film comes from director Oz Perkins, who has previously helmed projects such as The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, Gretel & Hansel, and an episode of The Twilight Zone.
As mentioned above, Longlegs hails from NEON, which is the acclaimed studio behind films such as I, Tonya, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Titane, The Worst Person in the World, Spencer, Triangle of Sadness, Anatomy of a Fall, and more.
The studio is perhaps most notable for distributing the Best Picture-winning film Parasite in the United States. Longlegs, which also stars Alicia Witt and Blair Underwood, will hit theaters on Friday, July 12.
In addition to Longlegs, 2024 will also see Cage star in the action-horror film Arcadian. He’s also attached to Lords of War, a sequel to his 2005 film Lord of War, and a project called The Surfer.
