The Boys is not back in town just yet, but it’s getting closer to returning. Showrunner Eric Kripke took to social media to provide an update about production on the Amazon show’s fifth and final season. According to him the series is “halfway” done to being entirely done shooting. But normal people and Supes alike shouldn’t despair about The Boys coming to an end. Kripke also shared an encouraging update on the upcoming prequel spinoff Vought Uprising.
Kripke announced season five of The Boys is “halfway through shooting.” That might tell us when we can expect to see the show’s final year.
Production began towards the end of November 2024, a little more than four months ago. If the second half of the season takes as long to complete that means production will wrap filming sometime towards the end of July. That could mean The Boys fifth season debuts as early as spring 2026, though we’d wager on an even later premiere date. Amazon will want to make sure the show’s last season (which we’ll also bet will be it’s biggest) gets all the post-production time it needs. The streamer will also want time to promote the hell out of it.
Once the original series ends, Amazon will then be turning its attention to The Boys prequel, Vought Uprising. Kripke let fans know how work on that series is going. He said the writer’s room is working on “brilliant scripts” and that “new super suits” are “being designed.”
As he said, “It’s all happening.” These updates also come just days after he shared one for the franchise’s first spinoff Gen V.
We’re not happy The Boys is coming to an end. (Even if we are happy it’s ending when those making it feel it should.) But saying goodbye is a little easier the end won’t mean the end of our time with Vought and Supes.
