At the end of 2023, Tesla started delivering its Cybertrucks to customers who paid a minimum of $60,000 to get their hands on one, but the company has been forced to issue yet another recall after discovering a couple of issues with a vehicle that has already been plagued by a number of problems.

It’s been close to five years since Tesla started drumming up excitement for the Cybertruck when it unveiled a wildly unconventional prototype at an event where Elon Musk attempted to hype up the armored glass that repeatedly shattered when one of his underlings put it to the test during the reveal.

Tesla had initially planned to start rolling out the Cybertruck in 2021, but engineering and manufacturing setbacks led to a two-year delay that came to an end when people who’d placed a preorder started receiving their vehicles in November of 2023.

Unfortunately, the final product has left a bit to be desired based on what’s transpired since then.

It didn’t take very long for Cybertruck owners to start complaining about rust spots appearing on the supposedly stainless steel exterior in addition to mounting concerns about injuries stemming from sharp edges and a trunk censor that didn’t appear to work as advertised.

Oh, and there was also one person who said theirs stopped working after they took it to a carwash.

The Cybertruck has also been at the center of a string of recalls stemming from various oversights, including a potentially deadly issue with the accelerator pedal that forced Tesla to scramble to address the problem when it surfaced in April.

Now, The Guardian reports the total number of recalls has reached four courtesy of two new developments.

The outlet says Tesla recently instructed the owners of 11,688 Cybertrucks (essentially every single one that’s been produced so far) to bring them in to replace a faulty windshield wiper that could result in visibility issues in rainy weather. 11,383 of them also need to be serviced thanks to issues with the trim seal in the trunk that could result in pieces flying off while driving, which is obviously less than ideal.

Based on how things are trending, it seems like it’s only a matter of time until the recall count rises once again, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
