Gov’t Mule shared that drummer Matt Abts will not be in tow during this weekend’s concerts after coming down with the flu. As a result, the band has tapped Terence Higgins as a replacement for the group’s Suwannee Amp Jams appearances, Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8.
The band’s statement announcing the change appeared on Gov’t Mule’s official Instagram. They wrote on IG Story: “Matt Abts is unable to travel this weekend due to the flu. We’re grateful to have Terence Higgins stepping in on drums for the Amp Jam shows.”
Before concluding the news, the band signed off, “Looking forward to two incredible nights of Mule music!”
Higgins is the longtime drummer in Haynes’ self-titled project, and has been joining the bandleader on tour in support of Million Voices Whisper. He also served in the house band during MusiCares 2025 Persons of the Year ceremony on Jan. 31.
