There aren’t many people who can brag about pulling off the kind of move you’d expect to see in an action movie stunt sequence to diffuse a harrowing situation in real life, but a teenager in New Hampshire can do exactly that after heroically jumping from a jet ski to stop a runaway boat.

It’s hard to beat a day at the lake in the middle of the summer, and plenty of people were taking advantage of what Lake Winnipesaukee (the largest body of water in New Hampshire) has to offer last Wednesday with the Fourth of July on the horizon.

That includes the group of kids who were taking sailing lessons in Smith’s Cove under the watchful eye of an instructor who was posted up in a center console boat. However, what had been an idyllic scene turned into a pretty terrifying one courtesy of a fluke accident that led to a bystander staging a dramatic rescue.

According to WMUR, the instructor had reached down into the water to retrieve a tennis ball at the exact moment one of his students’ sailboats tipped over and struck the throttle of his vessel, which sent him tumbling into the lake and led to the boat circling in the water with nobody at the helm.

17-year-old Brady Procon was sitting on a porch on the shore when he heard the commotion and wasted no time jumping into action after one of his neighbors told him to get on the back of his Jet Ski before making their way toward the out-of-control boat.

Another person who was filming the scary scene as it unfolded captured the duo approaching the circling boat before Procon casually jumped from the back of the Jet Ski and quickly killed the throttle before receiving an incredibly well-earned round of applause from the people who witnessed his heroic feat.

I can only assume Procon (who is preparing to enlist in the Navy this fall) was amped to discover someone had filmed him pulling off the move he’ll be more than justified in bragging about for the rest of his life.
