Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour tickets went on sale this week, sparking an online outrage from fans and media. And even in the pre-sale process, TicketMaster couldn’t foresee the demand.
The Swifties came out in droves to purchsase their opportunity to see the world’s largest pop star in person, causing the TicketMaster site to crash. Those Taylor Swift pre-sale tickets opened up at 9:30 AM EST on Tuesday, and fans on social media quickly began to report on website crashes and freezes.
By 11 AM, TicketMaster was offering apologies.
We are aware fans may be experiencing intermittent issues with the site and are urgently working to resolve.

Despite many getting early access with pre-sale codes, frustrated buyers complained on slow load times, login errors, and codes not being accepted.
One person wrote, “I got a code and am logged in to the correct account but it’s saying I’m not verified?! What do I do?,” which was a question that was posted frequently throughout Twitter.
TicketMaster soon responded with a statement, posting a release online about the issues. The site blamed “unprecedented demand” while also noting that they’d been forced to reschedule a few pre-sale times due to the overflow of traffic. They also insisted that the site was not down, and that tickets were actively being sold.
Of course, that wasn’t necessarily the answer fans wanted to hear.
It’s set into motion a rivalry between those Swifties and the ticket selling corporation. And even those lucky enough to find tickets are having to spend an arm and a leg in order to attend.
Fans have been blasting not only TicketMaster, but Taylor Swift for the outrageous ticket prices.
Those prices have soared, and with the insane demand, the costs have been fluctuating with each passing moment. Many are blaming scalpers and pre-sale codes being used to inflate those prices.
This person frustratingly commented, “It’s so disappointing when presale codes are used to purchase tickets and jack them up on resale sites.”
Some are seeing prices skyrocket into the tens of thousands. It’s quickly becoming the most sought-after event of the year, maybe even more so than the Super Bowl.
There were a number of notable social media accounts chiming in on the difficulties in securing tickets.
One fan even wrote, “I would like Taylor Swift herself to try to get tickets to her own show.”
For those that have been waiting for the chance to see Swift in concert, the price will be a steep one. The US leg of “The Eras Tour” begins March 18 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona and wraps August 5 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
