After months of speculation about Taylor Swift appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine, it was confirmed by the team behind the film that not only were those rumors false but they even planted fake rumors in order to hide the movie’s true surprises.
Despite not actually being in the film, Swift is still very tied to Deadpool & Wolverine as actress Blake Lively is married to Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, who largely masterminded this whole project and has been the driving force behind the Deadpool franchise for almost a decade.
In support of the film’s release on Friday, July 26, Swift used her massive Instagram account to promote Deadpool & Wolverine by sharing a photo of herself alongside longtime BFF Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy.
“Over the past few years I have watched one of my best friends on this planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film,” Swift wrote on her Instagram Story.
“He’s created the best work of his life, and this film feels like an actual joy portal, a wild escape from reality, and an abs sandwich. I don’t know how he did it. But that’s just Hugh for you!” she joked. “These other randoms crashed the photo and we were too polite to ask them to leave.”
Including a link to buy tickets to the movie at the bottom of the post, Swift concluded the caption with “Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids’ sperm donor!”
Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Rob Delaney, and many more, as the film is expected to include of a bevy of Marvel cameos, particularly from the 20th Century Fox era of Marvel movies.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in movie theaters across the United States. Check out the official trailer for the highly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe film below.
