Tate McRae is the biggest pop star in the world. Some of her fans are disappointed that she would consider a collaboration with Morgan Wallen.
The 21-year-old teased something related to the country music artist on Instagram but there has yet to be a formal announcement as to what it might be.
McRae, fresh off of the release of ‘So Close To What,’ appears slated to join the country music scene in the coming days, weeks and/or months. Her post on Instagram alludes to a joint single with Morgan Wallen.
She is known for wearing various sports jerseys, from hockey to baseball to football, with ‘T8’ in place of the number. It’s kind of her look. Her fans wear jerseys to her concerts in solidarity. It started as a way for the Calgary-native to connect to her Canadian roots through hockey. It only grew from there.
Wallen hails from Sneedville, Tennessee, just outside of Knoxville. He grew up a fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and often shows out to support his team.

Thus, it was pretty easy to connect the dots when Tate McRae posted the following image to her Instagram story on Tuesday afternoon. It has to do with Morgan Wallen. The Tennessee orange color with the MW on the jersey was a dead giveaway.

Wallen’s team also hinted at the collaboration on Discord.

No further information has been provided at this point. Only the image.
However, a large number of McRae’s fans are furious by what is out there. They do not want to see their queen work with such a bad guy. Wallen is often involved in controversy— the latest involving Saturday Night Live. His actions are questionable at times, for lack of better word. He is a PR nightmare.
And yet, Wallen is still one of the biggest artists in the world. His albums skyrocket up the charts whenever he gets into trouble. Every attempt to cancel him has not worked thus far. It is honestly impressive.
Thus, it makes perfect sense for Tate McRae to hop on a track with Morgan Wallen— especially as country music bends toward different genres. There is no way that it doesn’t get airtime on the radio. There is no way that it doesn’t become one of the most popular songs of the summer. It can’t fail.
McRae might see a very small, insignificant hit for a few days. The outrage will blow over.
