Sway’s Universe/Sway in the Morning/YouTube
A LOT has changed in the world since Dave Burd aka ‘Lil Dicky‘ appeared on Sway in the Morning 6 years ago, spit some incredible bars, and went viral (again) before his TV series launched on FX. Somehow, industry legend T-Pain had never seen the video of Lil Dicky’s freestyle until now.
During a recent live stream, T-Pain pulled up the Lil Dicky freestyle from Sway in the Morning which (time flies!!!) was somehow uploaded to the Sway YT channel nearly 6 years ago on June 26th, 2019. That video went on to rack up over 35 million views (full video below) with people blown away by Dave Burd’s ability to spit bars.
In the time since that freestyle on Sway dropped, former Richmond Spider Dave Burd aka Lil Dicky put out 3 seasons of Dave on FX which made him a household name in the Music Industry. This moment on Sway in the Morning was even immortalized in Season 1, episode 10 of Dave titled ‘The Breakfast Club.’
Lil Dicky’s quick wit and self-effacing humor has T-Pain hooting and hollering here. The laughter is infectious and it’s hard not to love this clip:
Shut up I know I’m late but goddammit @lildickytweets 😂🔥 pic.twitter.com/mmyK73RzdR

The full video is on on YouTube but age-restricted…
‘Suburban and white, whip, stay with the bread like some Cool Whip though’ is just a fantastic line and that’s the first one from Lil Dicky’s freestyle that broke T-Pain but there were more, of course… He lost it again when Lil Dicky bust out the flowers.
Obviously, a lot of what Lil Dicky rapped out there if not all of it was pre-written/pre-planned. Lil Dicky knew he would have to freestyle on Sway in the Morning and T-Pain knows that. But it is still to this day one of if not the greatest freestyles on Sway and Dave Burd deserves all of the respect for that.
My wife went to college with him and I’ve been on Lil Dicky’s music from the time he released his very first music video, ‘Ex-Boyfriend,’ and I subbed it to reddit + posted here on BroBible and got him his first 1 million views in 24 hours. Of course, he would’ve had those views without me because the music video was incredible and bound to go viral either way but I like to think I helped in some tiny way. In fact, let’s watch it again:
I forgot how great that was.
