Sydney Sweeney and The White Lotus season two breakout star Simona Tabasco are set to team up for an upcoming movie titled Immaculate.
While the project has already been filmed, it was reported on Tuesday, December 19 that it had been picked up for distribution in the United States by the production company Neon, which is responsible for films such as Parasite, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Palm Springs, Spencer, The Worst Person in the World, Triangle of Sadness, Anatomy of a Fall, and more.
The plot for Immaculate is quite tantalizing as well, as it’s described as a horror that centers on a nun who discovers that her new Italian convent “harbors dark and horrifying secrets.”
Directed by Michael Mohan, Immaculate follows Cecilia (Sweeney), a woman of devout faith who is offered a fulfilling new role at an illustrious Italian convent. Her warm welcome to the picture-perfect Italian countryside is soon interrupted as it becomes clearer to Cecilia that her new home harbors some dark and horrifying secrets. [via Deadline]
Sweeney took to Instagram, where she has over 16 million followers, to celebrate the news.
“So f—— excited for you guys to see this, you have no idea. This has been my baby since I was 16 and putting it altogether, producing it and filming it earlier this year was a complete dream of mine. See you guys at the theaters,” Sweeney wrote on her Instagram Story.
At this time, Immaculate has not been given an official release date. In addition to the duo of Sweeney and Tabasco, the film also stars lvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, and Dora Romano.
