Sometimes, an actor’s offscreen life is just as inspiring and compelling as a character they play. That’s certainly the case with Christopher Reeve, who rose to fame when he famously portrayed Superman in several films throughout the 1970s and 1980s. His dashing good looks, bold activism, and cheerful personality made America fall in love with him. (He also has the best Superman suit of all-time, but that’s another story.) This sentiment only grew after Reeve got into an accident in May 1995, falling off his horse and becoming paralyzed from the neck down. His perseverance and openness about finding his new normal was inspiring, indeed. Now, the trailer for Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story reveals a documentary film that will take us through the highs, lows, and relationships in his life.

Here’s a bit more about what you’ll see in Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story to accompany this trailer:

From the directors of McQueen, Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, this film includes never-before-seen intimate home movies and an extraordinary trove of personal archive material, as well as the first extended interviews ever filmed with Reeve’s three children about their father, and interviews with the A-list Hollywood actors who were Reeve’s colleagues and friends. The film is a moving and vivid cinematic telling of Reeve’s remarkable story.
