Sunflower Bean are gearing up for a big 2025. The indie act has officially unveiled details for their new album Mortal Primetime, arriving April 25th via Lucky Number, along with a 2025 tour. They’ve also shared the new single “Champagne Taste.” Watch the music video for the new song below.
Mortal Primetime marks Sunflower Bean’s fourth full-length LP, following their 2022 effort Headful of Sugar, though it’s the first time the band has self-produced. With the newfound control and in rebellion of the struggles each band member has faced, the trio seek to redefine themselves, coming through with a strong identity and a clear vision for their particular strain of indie rock. “You get to decide what your prime is, and you fight for it,” bassist and vocalist Julia Cumming said in a statement. “This is ours, and that can’t be taken away by circumstance. We can’t take it away from each other. This moment, where we are now, is what we’ve always fought for.”
In celebration of Mortal Primetime, Sunflower Bean have quite a few tour dates lined up for 2025. They’ll support Cage the Elephant for a European run in February, then, come May, they’ll embark on a North American headlining tour. Tickets for the “Mortal Primetime Tour” go on sale Friday, January 31st at 10:00 a.m. local time. Sign up for access to the artist pre-sale on the band’s website. For select dates (Brooklyn, Washington D.C., Houston, Phoenix, and Seattle), tickets will be available via Ticketmaster, with a Spotify pre-sale launching a day early.
As a first taste (ha!) of the new set of songs, “Champagne Taste” sees the band at their most angular and in-your-face. With fuzzy guitar tones, hard-hitting drums, and a vocal performance that’s both melodic and full of spunk, it’s a ripper of a tune that proves the band is returning as determined as ever.
