On day four of the Festival, Bill Condon’s highly anticipated Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Max Walker-Silverman’s sophomore feature, Rebuilding, will premiere at Eccles Theatre. Additionally, Hal & Harper; Selena y Los Dinos; Mad Bills to Pay (or Destiny, dile que no soy malo); Oh, Hi!; Train Dreams, and Move Ya Body: The Birth of House will debut in Park City.
Walker-Silverman returns to Sundance with Rebuilding, his sophomore feature following the success of his 2022 debut, A Love Story. This American Western tells the story of a rancher (Josh O’Connor) who must rebuild his life and his family after a devastating wildfire destroys their farm. Meghann Fahy, Amy Madigan, and Kali Reis co-star alongside O’Connor. Cast and crew attended the premiere at the Eccles Theater, on Jan 26 in Park City.

Sundance’s most buzzed-about film today is undoubtedly Kiss of the Spider Woman, Oscar-winning director Bill Condon’s reimagining of the 1993 Broadway musical based on Manuel Puig’s groundbreaking 1976 novel. Diego Luna and Tonatiuh star as Valentin Arregui (Luna) and Luis Molina, respectively. Arregui is a political prisoner who shares a cell with Molina, a window dresser convicted of public indecency. An unlikely bond forms between the two as Molina recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical featuring his beloved silver screen diva, Ingrid Luna.
Jennifer Lopez leads the cast alongside Bruno Bichir, Josefina Scaglione, and Aline Mayagoitia in this adaptation of Puig’s novel, previously brought to the screen by Héctor Babenco in the 1985 film nominated for four Oscars (including Best Actor for William Hurt). The stage musical also garnered seven Tony Awards. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon serve as executive producers alongside Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahy, and Greg Yolen.

Other notable premieres today include Coexistence, My Ass!; How to Build a Library; Sabar Bonda (Cactus Pears); Where the Wind Comes From; The Legend of Ochi; Rains Over Babel; Sunfish (& Other Stories on Green Lake); Third Act; and Plainclothes.
The 2025 Sundance Film Festival will take place from January 23–February 2, 2025, in person in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah.
