Sundance’s most buzzed-about film today is undoubtedly Kiss of the Spider Woman, Oscar-winning director Bill Condon’s reimagining of the 1993 Broadway musical based on Manuel Puig’s groundbreaking 1976 novel. Diego Luna and Tonatiuh star as Valentin Arregui (Luna) and Luis Molina, respectively. Arregui is a political prisoner who shares a cell with Molina, a window dresser convicted of public indecency. An unlikely bond forms between the two as Molina recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical featuring his beloved silver screen diva, Ingrid Luna.

Jennifer Lopez leads the cast alongside Bruno Bichir, Josefina Scaglione, and Aline Mayagoitia in this adaptation of Puig’s novel, previously brought to the screen by Héctor Babenco in the 1985 film nominated for four Oscars (including Best Actor for William Hurt). The stage musical also garnered seven Tony Awards. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon serve as executive producers alongside Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahy, and Greg Yolen.
