Popular YouTuber Summoning Salt shocked fans by finally revealing his face to announce a VHS collection of his videos.
When it comes to documenting speedrunning history, there may be no YouTuber more better than Summoning Salt.
In addition to being a prominent speedrunner in his own right, having beaten Punch-Out boss Mike Tyson in under two minutes, he’s made dozens of videos going over world record progression for multiplie titles.
His videos have made him one of speedrunning’s biggest channels and on June 19, he finally revealed his face after years of dominance on the video platform.
Summoning Salt finally reveals what he looks like
In his latest YouTube video documenting Super Smash Bros Melee ‘Break The Targets,’ Summoning Salt appeared on screen for the first time.
“Hi there, I don’t believe we’ve met before,” he said while wearing a suit and tie. “I’m Summoning Salt and I’m here today, because I have an exciting announcement.”
As it turned out, Summoning Salt revealed his face to announce VHS versions of his videos, explaining that he loves physical media and the nostalgia of the VHS format.

The YouTuber plans to rerelease his videos every few months on VHS with the first entry being the History of Halo 2 World Records.
Not only that, but this video will even be more updated than the one currently on YouTube, showing off what happened to the record since it was originally uploaded.
Summoning Salt wants to release all his classic videos in this format and the better the Halo 2 VHS goes, the more he’d be able to do going forward.
The VHS is selling for $34.99 and fans will need to act quick as they only have 14 days to pick one up before it’s “gone forever.”
The speedrunner added that he doesn’t plan to make showing his face a regular part of his videos as this was a special occasion for his VHS announcement.
“It’s pretty surreal after more than 8 years of anonymity,” he said.
