Grammy nominee Summer Walker has shared the music video for her latest single, “Heart Of A Woman.” The video, co-starring Walker and rapper NLE Choppa, finds Walker reliving the same day three times after learning about her partner’s infidelity.
“Heart Of A Woman” is the first single released off her highly-anticipated album, Finally Over It. The song’s lyrics explore a toxic relationship: “Question is, why I do the things I do? / Answer I may never find, but I’ll always choose you / Wanna give up on you but, damn, I know I can’t / I put the blame on me for giving you chance after chance.”
Directed by Lacey Duke, the video shows Summer stuck in a time loop until she accepts her partner’s betrayal and decides to take revenge, leaving their house engulfed in flames. The three repeated days represent her albums Over It, Still Over It, and the upcoming Finally Over It. The video opens with a 15 second teaser of a brand-new track, giving fans a taste of what’s to come on the new record.
Summer’s upcoming album, Finally Over It, marks the culmination of her Over It trilogy, which began with her acclaimed debut Over It in 2019 and continued with her 2021 Billboard 200 chart-topping sophomore effort Still Over It. Ahead of the album’s release, Summer has launched Over It Radio on Apple Music. In the premiere episodes, Summer chatted with Sexyy Redd and Yung Miami, diving into conversations about relationships, motherhood, and entrepreneurship.
In 2021, Summer explained her songwriting ethos to Spin: “I don’t make music with the intent of anyone else hearing it. It’s for me. It’s as if someone were to write in a diary. I’m singing it and I’m going to be as open as I want to be because it wasn’t for nobody else anyway.”
