Succession Creator Premieres Mountainhead Movie Trailer

Succession might be over, but the creator of the show isn’t done taking aim at the rich. Writer/director Jesse Armstrong has brought together an impressive quartet of actors — Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Ramy Youssef, and Corey Michael Smith — for Mountainhead, an HBO original movie that will come out just in time to qualify for this year’s Emmys race.

In the film, the four men mentioned above play tech moguls whose companies, surely, will bear at least a slight resemblance to some of the real-life corporations which dominate Silicon Valley and beyond. Gathering together for a snowy mountain getaway, said getaway gets disrupted by civil rest on the news — civil rest that at least one of their companies might be directly responsible for. According to the tagline: “Four friends. $371 billion net worth. Zero culpability.”

Mountainhead was announced less than two months ago (the beginning of March) and filmed quickly thanks to its small scope and cast — notably, none of the actors have previously appeared in a Jesse Armstrong project, but all of them are either well-established stars or on the rise: Cory Michael Smith might be the least-known of the ensemble, but he’s got a solid resume including a series regular role on the Fox series Gotham (playing the Riddler) and, just recently, embodying the face and ego of Chevy Chase in Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night.
