Twitch streamer Shelbo has claimed that he is “engaged” to Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys and has spent thousands of dollars on a supposed relationship.
Some content creators love to show off their relationships on streams and videos for fans. They don’t mind viewers getting involved in their banter and conversations. However, there are plenty of others who’d rather keep it quiet.
Pokimane is one of those who falls into the latter half of that. While she has briefly discussed her dating life on stream, including using apps such as Raya, Anys otherwise keeps things private.
Twitch streamer Shelbo99, who was a part of OTK’s Top Streamer show, has claimed that the pair are engaged. However, it appears to be a catfish scenario.
Shelbo99 claims he’s in long-term relationship with Pokimane
“Me and Pokimane have been dating for four months now. Today is our four-month anniversary and we are definitely celebrating today,” he said in his February 26 stream. “I know she says she is single on social media, but guys, she is not single. She is taken.”
The streamer also claimed that the pair are “engaged” and would be meeting up to “discuss things” in the near future. Yet, he doesn’t have her address.
“We will be getting married soon, very soon. We will definitely stream it and let you guys know when it is happening and everything,” he further claimed.
Additionally, he revealed that he has spent almost $500 to travel to California to “look for Imane” at the last minute.
“I ended up homeless for about 12 days. No money, no shelter, no anything. I’m sitting in and out of hospitals trying to make sure I have somewhere to sleep at night,” he added, saying he spent weeks in one hospital before moving into transition housing.
Shelbo reveals catfish account messaged him
This all followed him being directed messaged on X (formerly Twitter) by a Pokimane1 account back in October after he tweeted the actual Pokimane about marriage.
“She asked me for $70. I blocked her and then I thought ‘maybe this is her’ so I unblocked her and started talking to her again,” he continued. “She asked me for $70, I gave it to her, and basically guys, I’ve been giving her money ever since.”
Shelbo added that he spent $1500 to access a “secret link” so that the pair could communicate further.
He revealed that he sent an additional $4000 to the account later on. “You might say ‘oh are you rich or something?’ but absolutely not,” the streamer said. “But, I use what I have.”
Shelbo also noted that he is not currently working either.
The fake social media accounts that add numbers to their handles to make it look like the person they’re impersonating have been prevalent for quite some time too.
