The violent weather continued across the Heartland of America yesterday and storm chaser/meteorologist Reed Timmer found himself engulfed by a tornado in Huntsville, Alabama. Timmer was driving his infamous Dominator 3, a tornado-proof vehicle built on top of a 2012 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup truck.
Reed Timmer is arguably the most famous storm chaser in America. He boasts 1.35 million subscribers on YouTube and millions of followers across social media. Timmer has also been doing this for a long time and knows better than most how to predict the movement of a tornado so he doesn’t get caught inside.
Unfortunately for Reed Timmer, his crew, and the Dominator 3 vehicle that went back into use this storm season, they took damage after being swallowed up by the tornado in Huntsville, Alabama which appears to have caused some damage to the vehicle though it’s hard to tell if the damage is just cosmetic or not.
Reed Timmer shared this video on X (née Twitter) of the moment his Dominator 3 got spun by the tornado:
Insane #tornado intercept spins the Dominator after @WillClay25 shoots a sensor by air cannon into the violent vortex. This will give us ground up data inside the tornado @localmanweather pic.twitter.com/kawgybkhuG

Timmer also posted a 9-minute video to YouTube with a lot more action from yesterday’s storm activity in Huntsville, Alabama with the tornado which produced 200+ MPH winds:
So much of the Midwest and Tornado Alley has been getting hammered by violent storms for days. Yesterday, I published this article with videos of tornado footage from Texas, Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, and other states from over the weekend. It is a little surreal how much storm activity was concentrated to last weekend over such a large swath of the country.
