Apple TV+ has revealed the trailer for STEVE! (martin), a new documentary about iconic comedian, actor, and musician Steve Martin. Watch it below.
Broken into two parts and premiering on Apple TV+ on March 29th, the documentary focuses on a set of distinct chapters of Martin’s life, defined as “Then” (his early struggles, rise to success, and eventual departure from standup) and “Now” (Martin in the present-day, reveling in his self-described “golden years”). It also promises never-before-seen archival footage, alongside freshly-recorded insights from Martin and some of his closest friends.
The trailer offers glimpses into interviews with Jerry Seinfeld, Tina Fey, and Martin Short, while a statement from Apple TV+ notes additional conversations with Selena Gomez and Diane Keaton.
STEVE! (martin) was directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville, responsible for the Fred Rogers documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor? and 20 Feet from Stardom, a look into the lives of prominent background vocalists. The project hails from A24.
In the meantime, Martin has been staying busy with prepping for “The Dukes of Funnytown!” tour with Martin Short, which kicks off in October (secure tickets here). His Emmy-winning Hulu comedy Only Murders in the Building was also renewed for a fourth season, with Kumail Nanjiani recently announced as an addition to the cast.
