On Oct. 21, the sixth annual Tulane University scholarship program fundraising concert, also known as The Tipping Point, is scheduled to occur at The Filmore New Orleans. Today, the folks behind the yearly affair shared a list of artists set to take the stage during the highly-anticipated Big Easy event.
Included on the bill are the sons of two of music’s most extraordinary talents; eight-time Grammy-award winner Stephen Marley and Lukas Nelson, who have signed on to headline the October event. Also scheduled to perform are David Shaw, Ledisi, Jimmie Vaughn, Jon Cleary, Jon Cleary, Marc Broussard, and special guests George Porter Jr. and Irma Thomas.
In addition to the musicians mentioned above, The Tipping Point will feature the Eric Krasno-led house band consisting of Ivan Neville, Tony Hall, Raymond Weber and Mark Mullins & The Levee Horns. All of whom will perform collectively during the impending benefit, hosted by Quint Davis.
Tulane University President, Michael Fitts, offered, “This amazing night will feature some of the best local and national musicians performing in support of the best and brightest local and national students as they pursue their dreams at Tulane University.”
The Tipping Point represents the only concert series of this size in the country that supports a university, benefits student scholarships, and supports the city of New Orleans. In that vein, Walter Isaacson remarked: “Only in New Orleans can find a concert of this wonderful and funky quality dedicated to supporting student scholarships.”
Proceeds gained through this year’s Tipping Point event will fund scholarships that provide qualified students with financial assistance to aid their college tuition and educational expenses in order to attend Tulane University, regardless of economic background.
