Stephen A. Smith has become increasingly outspoken on political issues in recent years, so much so that his name has been tossed around as a potential candidate for the Democratic party, which is something he said he’d be open to exploring.

Earlier this week, news broke that Stephen A. Smith had signed a deal with SiriusXM that would see him host two different shows, one about sports on Mad Dog Sports Radio (channel 82), and another about “weekly current events, pop culture and social commentary-focused show,” which will air on a non-sports SiriusXM station.

SAS certainly isn’t shy about bringing his political takes to ESPN’s airwaves as is, as he detailed how he’d stop Russia’s war on Ukraine during the Wednesday, June 4 episode of the long-running hot take debate shot.

“I wouldn’t try to negotiate it. I would do what I could to empower us, I don’t want to give Ukraine unlimited funds, but I know that Russia’s ultimate quest is to recapture Europe and I don’t want that to happen. Therefore, I would help out Ukraine,” Smith explained, prompting co-host Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo to reply “We’re not getting into politics here.”

Smith has not been shy about his willingness to wade into politics and this latest instance seems like an undoubted example of him trying to position himself on an issue.
