Steely Dan will reissue their 1973 LP, Countdown to Ecstasy, on vinyl next month. The group’s co-founder Donald Fagen has overseen the newly remastered collection of music, which will be released on May 26 via Geffen/UMe.
The announcement regarding Countdown to Ecstasy is the latest in a series of newly remastered and reissued material from the ensemble. It follows the drop of their revisited debut, Can’t Buy a Thrill, which arrived in November 2022 under the guidance of the audio engineer Bernie Grundman.
The group’s sophomore release features beloved Steely Dan classics such as “My Old School,” “Bodhisattva” and “Show Biz Kids.” In addition, the band will continue to roll out their newly remastered iconic discography, which spans from a fruitful period: 1972 through 1980, with 1974’s Pretzel Logic, 1976’s The Royal Scam, the 1977 masterpiece Aja and their final MCA Records release, 1980’s Gaucho.
The material has been remastered from their original analog tapes and will roll out in the coming months via steelydanshop.com.
