The trailer for “Obi-Wan Kenobi” finally arrived from a galaxy far, far away.

The latest “Star Wars” Disney+ live-action series features Emmy-award-winning actor Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who is currently watching after a young Luke Skywalker growing up on Tatooine.

First Images From ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Are Revealed

On Wednesday, Entertainment Weekly dropped several new images of the legendary Jedi. Not only is McGregor making his return, but Joel Edgerton is also reprising his role as Uncle Owen. Bonnie Piesse is also reprising her role as Aunt Beru, but it’s Owen Lars that has a showdown with a relentless Inquisitor named Reva, played by Moses Ingram of “The Queen’s Gambit” fame.

Director Deborah Chow and writer Joby Harold describe the red lightsaber-wielding Reva as “ruthlessly ambitious.” Reva, the Grand Inquisitor, and Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen) will all be teaming up together to try to track down Kenobi. “They share a common dark side goal,” Ingram explained. “They’re on the same team.”

McGregor teased, “We find Obi-Wan at the beginning of our story rather broken, and faithless, and beaten, somewhat given up.” There are several shots of Kenobi traveling around Tatooine with what might be his loyal eopie, similar to Boba Fett’s Bantha.

The show will also introduce the planet of Daiyu, which Harold says, “sort of has a Hong Kong feel to it. It’s got a graffiti-ridden nightlife, and is kind of edgy. It’s just got a different lane and a different feeling.”

In addition to McGregor, Christensen, and Ingram, the show will also star Marvel’s “Eternals” actor Kumail Nanjiani, “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” star Sung Kang, “The King” actor Joel Edgerton, and “Den of Thieves” actor O’Shea Jackson Jr.

Fans Finally Get A Glimpse Of Ewan McGregor In The ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Trailer

The trailer begins with shots of Kenobi in exile on Tatooine, which seem similar to how Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) was portrayed in exile on Ahch-To in “The Last Jedi.”

“The fight is done,” Kenobi says. “We lost. Stay hidden.”

“The key to hunting Jedi is patience,” the Grand Inquisitor can be seen telling Reva. “Jedi cannot help what they are. Their compassion leaves a trail. The Jedi code is like an itch. He cannot help it.”

The legendary score of John Williams can be heard throughout the trailer, which marks one of the few times that Williams has written a score for a television series.

“The fact that they played duel of the fates, Anakin’s dark deeds and battle of the heroes is insane. Instant chills right there,” one fan commented.

“Between seeing Ewan back as Obi-Wan, the music, the visuals.. hearing Vaders breathing, and it actually meaning something. Chills. Tears. Still shaking,” another said.

“I love how we are getting closer to the Older Obi-Wan portrayal of Ewan McGregor version and to see him completely defeated and lost but still watching over Luke and knowing he would be the catalyst to make sure Luke brought down an empire is poetic,” another commented.

“Gave me shivers and slightly emotional! The musical theme thoroughly connected the dots in the best emotive way possible,” said another.

“I teared up over this trailer; its beauty, darkness, despair, and hope is so tantalizingly overwhelming,” another wrote. “Imagine at over 6 hours, fans will have an Obi-Wan Trilogy to add to their collection of all things Star Wars.”

“Darth Vader in the end gave me BIG chills,” another wrote. “I’ve been literally looking forward to this show ever since it was announced. I really cannot wait for this to be released.”

“This knew how to get every single Star Wars fan excited for it, and I’m beyond stoked to see what Disney has in store for this series,” another said.

“Omg YES. I am honestly so hyped for this series, and I’m so happy they brought back so many people to work on and be in this show,” another wrote. “I’m sure the team who worked on this did a great job, and I hope they are proud of themselves.”

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” will be available to stream on Disney+ on May 25, 2022. The day is symbolic to “Star Wars” fans, as the original “Star Wars” movie, “A New Hope” opened on May 25, 1977 – exactly 45 years to the day.
