Poland-based company Volonaut revealed their new Airbike with a demonstration video that looks very much like the speeder bikes used in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. They claim it is the first personal hoverbike to not use propellers and that it can go up to 124 miles per hour.

“Airbike flying motorbike is a breakthrough in personal air mobility,” the company states on its website. “The futuristic single occupant vehicle is a realization of a bold concept often portrayed in science-fiction movies.”

They also state that their “superbike for the skies” uses a proprietary stabilization system enhanced by a flight computer to provide “automatic hover and ease of control for its rider.”

“The unique riding position with unobstructed 360 degree view helps the rider to quickly become one with the flying machine and provides the sensation of complete freedom,” the company continues. “Thanks to Airbike’s extremely compact size and no spinning propellers it can travel through most confined areas with ease. Airbike is 7 times lighter than a typical motorcycle thanks to use of advanced carbon fiber materials, 3d printing and minimalistic approach.”

Further technical details of the AirBike have yet to be revealed. They also haven’t stated if and when the speeder bike will become available for purchase.

However, the inventor of the AirBike, Tomasz Patan, also developed another personal air vehicle called the Jetson ONE. And unlike flying cars, they are already available to pre-order, but you won’t be able to actually get one until 2027, as the company’s website says its entire 2025 and 2026 production has already sold out.

The cost of the Jetson ONE is $128,000 and to pre-order it you have to place a non-refundable downpayment of $8,000. The final payment of the $120,000 is due when your Jetson ONE is ready for delivery at the factory.

Interestingly, they boast that no pilot’s license is required to operate it in the United States, despite it having a top speed of 63 miles per hour and can fly up to 1,500 feet above the ground.
