STAR WARS REBELS Episodes Are Uploading on YouTube Every Week for Free

Where does Andor rank among the best Star Wars releases ever? We need the show to finish its second (and final) season before we can truly have that debate. But we already know one show that will forever be part of that conversation: Star Wars Rebels. The animated series stands as one of the greatest entries in franchise history. And if you don’t know why because you still—for some reason!—haven’t seen it, you are officially out of excuses. Disney is now uploading episodes of Rebels every week for free on YouTube.

Lucasfilm

The official YouTube channel Star Wars Kids has begun posting single episode of Star Wars Rebels every Friday. (News we first heard about at Collider.) As of this writing, the first three installments from season one are already there. That leaves 72 more episodes/weeks to go before the entire series is available for free.

That is unless they add in some of the shorts made for the show. (Though we doubt any of them would take up an entire Friday release slot. They might end up as extra bonuses.)

If you or your young one aren’t familiar with the animated series from creators Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Carrie Beck, that’s a shame. Truly. But Star Wars Kids provided an official synopsis to catch you up to speed.

It is a dark time in the galaxy as the Galactic Empire continues to tighten its grip on the people through oppression and fear, compelling a few brave individuals to band together in resistance. The motley crew of the starship Ghost stands up for those who cannot fight for themselves, providing the spark to ignite a rebellion.

The show ran from 2014-2018, but it makes sense Lucasfilm would start making it available for free now even if the entire show is still available on Disney+. Season one of Ahsoka was a de facto sequel in many ways. Many of the Ghost‘s crew played major roles on the show and will return for season two.

In fact, this Rebels YouTube release schedule could be a hint at when we’ll get season two of Ahsoka. In 72 weeks we’ll have Star Wars Rebels finale for free on YouTube. A few days later we might get the premiere of Ahsoka season two. Then we’ll continue the never-ending debating over the best Star Wars project ever.
