Spiritbox have released a video of their stunning live rendition of ‘Fata Morgana’, taken from their recent sold-out Alexandra Palace show.
The Canadian metal titans played London’s 10,000-capacity Ally Pally on February 13, in the run-up to the release of their sophomore album ‘Tsunami Sea’, which landed last week.
The band kickstarted proceedings by giving a live debut to ‘Fata Morgana’, the opening track to their recent LP.
As Rock Sound’s review of the show detailed of the set opener:
“When the white curtain drops, and Spiritbox are unveiled, the crowd are sent into an instant state of ear-piercing shock by the live debut of ‘Fata Morgana’, the top secret opener from ‘Tsunami Sea’.”
Have a listen and look for yourself at the special moment via the video below, which captures Courtney LaPlante and co. in all their glory.
Diving deeper into the themes and making of ‘Tsunami Sea’ via Rock Sound’s ‘Album Story’, Spiritbox’s Mike Stringer explained:
“I think what really connected all of these songs was a lot of it has to do with Vancouver Island and its surroundings,”
“The feelings of wanting to go home and not wanting to as well, and the realisation of the push and pull that comes with that.”
Adding to that sentiment, Courtney LaPlante said:
“From the beautiful nature to the isolation, I am really inspired by where we are from, the good and bad.
“And the fact that we have used the place we have grown up to tell this story of how we feel sometimes. It’s so intertwined with who we are.
“Everybody feels that way about where they are from, but with us it’s more severe because of how isolated we are where we live.
“You know what they say, you can take the musician out of the depressing environment, but you can’t take the depressing environment out of the musician.”
