A burger chain in Columbia, South Carolina made a change to the menu after being bullied by locals. Rush’s restaurant is moving away from crinkle fries starting this month.

That decision comes after weeks of protests from those in the area. The establishment will now revert back to its original style of French fry.

Earlier this year, the restaurant opted to make the switch from its typical standard cut fry to the crinkle variety. Ironically, that move was made in response to a public request to go crinkle. It was, however, met with immediate backlash.

Online protests were quickly sparked. Social media users took to the internet to beg Rush’s to rethink their choice.

“We’re all a little salty about the fries,” one visitor wrote. “Please bring back the OGs,” said another.

Restaurant-goers were vocal about their unhappiness. Some took things a step further than others in their protests of the change.

Rush’s was bullied into reverting back to its old French fries.

The burger chain has been a Columbia staple for some time. Boasting eight locations in the midlands of South Carolina, the owners of establishment opened up shop more than 80 years ago.

Starting as Carolina Dairies, it’s navigated decades of change to balloon into one of the top fast-food spots in the area – and more expansion could be on the way!

With that in mind, it opted to keep its fanbase happy. Rush’s will return to the old style. It posted a comical announcement on that decision to its social media outlets with the caption, “We were wrong, baby.”

Patrons’ voices were heard. The change will officially be made on July 18th.

The story reignites a heated debate amongst fast-food enjoyers. Which fry is the best?

McDonald’s and Wendy’s often earn the praise of French fry connoisseurs. Arby’s curly fries always have a place and time, too. Chick-Fil-A’s waffle fries offer a delicious venture away from the norm. And steak fries at say, Red Robin, can help mix it up on the potato-per-bite ratio.

Opinion is largely split on the “best” style of fry. The term is subjective. In Columbia, South Carolina, crinkle fries are not the top choice! Rush’s heard that feedback loud and clear.
