‘Soundtracking with Edith Bowman’ celebrates landmark 500th episode

Soundtracking with Edith Bowman, the critically acclaimed podcast exploring the powerful relationship between music and film, celebrates a major milestone this week with the launch of its 500th episode!

The series, which will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2026, has emerged as the preferred podcast for all moviegoers, providing a unique and personal glimpse into the art of storytelling through the interplay between music and moving images.

With millions of listeners, host Edith Bowman has welcomed some of the biggest names in the business, including Quentin TarantinoChristopher NolanHans ZimmerGreta Gerwig, and Steven Spielberg, as well as supporting up-and-coming artists.

Reflecting on this milestone, Edith shared: “When I started ‘Soundtracking’, all I wanted to do was have a conversation about two of my passions, film and music. Little did I know I would be having that with some of the most inspirational and celebrated storytellers. Reaching 500 episodes is an incredible moment, and I’m so grateful to every guest who has shared their stories and every listener who has supported the podcast along the way.”



Out today, the pod’s 500th episode features in-depth conversation with man of the moment Stephen Graham and director Philip Barantini, who discuss Netflix mega hit Adolescence, Robert De Niro, and how music can help tell a story and convey emotion.

Stephen also talks about acting, his love for film, Owen Cooper, A Thousand Blows and playing Springsteen’s dad. The episode also features messages from some high-profile previous guests as well as listeners from all over the world.

Edith Bowman is an award winning radio DJ, television presenter, and podcast host, renowned for her extensive career in broadcasting.

Raised in Anstruther, Fife, she began her career in local radio before becoming one of the most respected voices in film, TV, and audio. 

Bowman’s other radio credits include hosting various shows across major stations such as BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 5 Live, and Virgin Radio. Notably, she co-hosted Colin and Edith with Colin Murray on BBC Radio 1 from 2003 to 2006 and later took over the station’s afternoon slot until 2008. She also presented the Weekend Breakfast Show and The Review Show on Radio 1. In November 2024, she began hosting Cinematic Soundtracks on BBC Radio 3 Unwind. ?

In television, Edith has presented numerous music-related programs and festival coverages, including MTV Select, Top of the Pops, BBC Scotland’s Teen Commandments, and coverage of events like Glastonbury and T in the Park. 

She also hosted the BBC’s coverage of the Royal Wedding in 2011 and appeared in shows like Celebrity Antiques Road Trip and Celebrity MasterChef.

Beyond broadcasting, Edith collaborates with Everyman Cinemas for a curated film club, attracting guests like Richard Curtis, Steve McQueen, and Sofia Coppola. A keen photographer, her work has been exhibited by The National Trust.
