Twitch star Sodapoppin broke his monitor in a moment of rage after a Mario Kart World race went horribly wrong on stream.
After years of waiting, the Nintendo Switch 2 was finally released on June 5, 2025, and became the company’s best-selling console debut in the following days.
Many of the fans who managed to pre-order the console received theirs on launch day, with millions of people immediately jumping online to play Mario Kart World.
Thousands of people on Twitch are watching their favorite streamers play the game as well, and Sodapoppin is among the biggest creators playing it.
During a stream on June 11, Soda’s Mario Kart World stream went horribly wrong after a mishap during a race led to him breaking his monitor.

During one of challenges, Soda was given a goal to end the race in 16th place or better in order to advance to the next round. As Mario Kart World now features 24 characters in each race, and Soda was in 16th, there were still plenty of racers available to take a lead over him.
Unfortunately, Soda was hit by a Bullet Bill powerup from behind, which knocked him off the map. In a fit of rage, the Twitch star threw the controller into his monitor.
“I broke my monitor,” he said. “My monitor’s just straight up broken. Yeah, that’s cracked.”
His viewers were skeptical that he actually broke the screen at first, prompting Soda to turn his webcam around to show off the cracks.
This is the second time Soda has raged at Mario Kart World in the days since release. On June 9, a mishap during a race led to him breaking the controller he was using.
