Soccer legend Leo Messi has been one of the most famous people in the world for almost two decades now, and in all that time, no one has heard the Argentinian icon speak English. Until now.
In a commercial for Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the former Barcelona star arrives at the house of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence and says “Bad boys?”.
Despite how brief Messi’s line is, the commercial is going massively viral as many soccer fans believe it’s the first time they’ve ever heard him speak a language other than Spanish.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die will be hitting movie theaters in the United States on June 5. Smith and Lawrence reprise their roles of Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowry alongside Eric Dane, Vanessa Hudgens, Joa Pantoliano, Rhea Seehorn, Paola Nunez, Jacob Scipio, Tasha Smith, Melanie Liburd, Alexander Ludwig, and more.
The film is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who also helmed 2020’s Bad Boys For Life.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die is set to be just Will Smith’s second film since infamously slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards. He also starred in the 2022 AppleTV+ film Emancipation.
As for Lionel Messi, he’s currently embarking on his second season with Inter Miami and will also be captaining Argentina in this summer’s Copa America tournament.
