If a woman in Virginia didn’t have an aversion to snakes before going out to eat recently, she probably does now after one of them fell from the ceiling of the restaurant she was at and ended up in her margarita. That’s legitimate nightmare fuel.
Carletta Andrews and her husband were at the Patron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina in Sandston, Virginia on April 16, finishing their meal, when she says “she felt something on her forehead.” That something was a snake.
“I leaned in to take a sip and I noticed something hit me in the forehead and I looked at my husband like, ‘What was that?’” Andrews told WRIC News. “When I turned around, I saw the snake in my margarita.”
Not only that, she says, “It was moving. It started wrapping around my straw.”
Andrews says that after alerting restaurant workers to the snake in her margarita, they attempted to remove it with a stick. That didn’t work, so another restaurant customer just grabbed it and took it outside.
After the shocking incident, the restaurant offered to move her to a different booth. She declined and quickly got the heck out of there. Needless to say, the restaurant didn’t make her pay for their meal.
“I kept saying, ‘please don’t let it go in my purse,’” she said. “I left shaking, I was traumatized.” Andrews also wondered, “If that was the baby — I fear… is the mom there?”
Reached later by WRIC News, the owner of the restaurant thinks the snake probably got into the restaurant through the air conditioning unit. When asked what precautions had been put in place since the snake incident to prevent it from happening again, the owner replied, “Nothing.”
“It was definitely a shock,” Carletta Andrews wrote on social media. She also said that she is “not going out to eat anytime soon.”
In 2017, another woman was actually bit by a poisonous snake at a LongHorn Steakhouse in Virginia. She ended up spending five days in the hospital. Five years later, in 2022, she filed a lawsuit because she was still suffering the aftereffects of the snake bite.
