Snail Mail is launching her very own festival, Valentine Fest, in her Baltimore hometown, Variety reports. The five-night festival takes place on consecutive nights at the city’s Ottobar venue, starting on February 10, 2023, and concluding on Valentine’s Day. Snail Mail will perform each night, switching up the set list each time, and has curate a lineup of guests that, for now, remains secret.
Snail Mail’s Lindsay Jordan told Variety, “We have some fucking insane bands on there, one of them I’m pretty sure is getting back together just for this. The idea was to have a new band that we are friends with and admire as the first opener, a legend as the second and then Snail Mail. So the lineup would be the future, the past and the present.” The festival poster, drawn by Corrinne James, contains clues to some of the performers. Check it out below.
The shows—Jordan’s first in her hometown in four years—will return her to the venue where she launched the Snail Mail project in 2015, Variety notes. Jordan had wanted to inaugurate the festival this year but needed time to recover from vocal surgery.
Snail Mail’s latest album, Valentine, came out last year; she told Variety she has started work on a follow-up. She is set to appear in the A24 horror film I Saw the TV Glow, and added that she recently auditioned to play Madonna in a new biopic, before the role went to Julia Garner.
