Laufey wants her alleged stalker very far away from her.

The Icelandic singer-songwriter has filed for a restraining order against Justin Choi after he allegedly harassed her multiple times on social media and once in person, according to court documents obtained by The Blast.

In the legal documents, Laufey is asking for protection from Choi for herself, her mother, Wei Lin Sigurgeirsson, and her sister Júnía Lín Jónsdóttir.

According to her, Choi has been harassing her since July 1, 2022, by sending more than a thousand direct messages to her through Instagram despite her repeated requests for him to stop.

She says that Choi, an ex-piano student, continued to message her from new social media accounts after she blocked him.

Despite her husband’s involvement in the case, the obsessed fan continued to harass her, even waiting for her in a parking lot, and followed her to work on April 13, 2022.

He also allegedly attempted to force his way into her classroom and began talking incoherently, which resulted in her threatening to call 911 to make him leave.

Regarding Choi’s run-ins with her sister, Laufey asserts that he has been leaving harassing messages and comments on Júnía’s social media and online platforms, even asking her for help and professing his love for her.

He has reportedly mentioned Júnía multiple times in the thousands of messages he has sent to the “Falling Behind” singer.

With his attention on her sister, Laufey has fears that Choi might go to extreme lengths to contact me, including harassing and stalking Júnía, as he has attested to doing in the past. Alternatively, she is concerned the alleged stalker might physically harm Júnía.

With the frequency of the alleged stalker’s messages increasing to almost every day or very often and his attempts to contact her in person, Laufey notes that she has suffered emotional distress and increased worry about her safety and that of her family.

The record producer has the same concerns about her mother, whom she notes she often travels and spends time with. She also states that the situation has led to her “ongoing loss of peace, tranquility, and security in my home and personal space.”

Due to these fears, Laufey had to significantly increase her security measures, costing her over $50,000. Notably, multiple screenshots of Choi sending messages to Laufey, professing his love for her, are contained in the 97-page restraining order motion.

In one message sent via Instagram, Choi claims, “Being in love does not mean I’m weird.” In another, he writes that he is “falling” for Laufey “so hard” and pens in yet another:

“This is the most effort I’ve ever put into a girl, and I haven’t even talked to you. I’m crazy about you, I hope you see that.”

Ultimately, Laufey wants the court to ban Choi from threatening, physically harming, or harassing her, whether directly or through someone else. Choi should also be prohibited from countering her, whether it’s in person, by phone/text, email, or through social media.

Furthermore, he must stay away from her current home and venues where she will perform her music and make appearances.
