In the same way the overcast sky put a slight dampener on proceedings, technical issues meant Shania struggled to hear herself.
She fiddled with her in-ear monitors but sang out of time to an audience of more than 100,000.
Thankfully, things soon came together and there were moments of greatness, such as a stripped-down version of You’re Still The One and a thigh-slapping rendition of Any Man Of Mine, and in this shiny black minidress, Shania looked every bit the superstar.
As she closed her set with her stone-cold classic Man!
I Feel Like a Woman!, fans erupted in a euphoric singalong.
And that alone proved she is a worthy legend.

PALOMA FAITH made a rallying cry for women everywhere when she performed on the Pyramid Stage yesterday.
She said: “I’m now a single mum and this show is for all those single mums out there.

FOOTIE star Tyrone Mings might be able to play for 90 minutes but he couldn’t even make it to half-time while watching a gig on Saturday.
The Aston Villa defender wore a pink and yellow bandana to the 45-minute set by Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems – but got so tired that he sat down halfway through.
An onlooker said: “It got a bit much for him and even though he was right near the front he just sat down and played on his phone.”
Here’s hoping he lasts longer in his next game.

Elsewhere, while exes Ellie Goulding and Caspar Jopling were happy to party together, Jack Whitehall risked an awkward run-in with his ex-girlfriend Gemma Chan as they both headed out to the Other Stage to watch The Streets, missing each other by seconds.
And Chloe Madeley stayed clear of her ex-husband James Haskell, who I last saw wearing a fur coat and dancing to trance music in the early hours yesterday.

MEL C went public with her new man as the Spice Girl wandered the site hand in hand.
The 6ft 1in hunk was named online as Aussie underwear model Chris Dingwall.
He found time to post from the couple’s posh digs before heading to the festival with Mel.
Chris’s online bio says he’s in his 40s and is also an actor, writer and director.
