Shania Twain left fans doing double-takes this month when she debuted pink hair, with many not even recognizing her new look.
The veteran Country Music singer, 58, let her 2.5 million Instagram followers see her new do in a post on May 7. “Expect me to be coloring my hair, doing what I dare in Vegas, sorry not sorry!!”, Twain wrote alongside an image of her grinning wide sporting the new pink locks.
However, Twain’s fans weren’t convinced the hairstyle was “still the one” for their beloved singer.
“That picture does not even come close to looking like you,” one fan wrote in the comments. “Big Shania fan and she’s totally free to do whatever she wants but I didn’t recognize her either,” a second fan added.
Other fans thought Shania Twain looked like an altogether different person with her pink hair. “[She]looks like Kim Kardashian or one of her sisters. Crazy!!” one follower exclaimed. “Anyone else think this was Sofia Vergara?” another fan wondered.
Another fan cut straight to the bone with their comment. ” I am almost 55 and I am the first to admit that getting old sucks,” they wrote.”Menopause really takes a toll on your appearance, your skin, your body. I wish that Shania had chosen to age gracefully,” they added.
Shania Twain Explains That Her Latest Pink Hair Style Put Her at Ease with Going Gray
However, Shania Twain feels like her new pink hair is part of rolling with the passage of time. She recently spoke with Extra to share how aging has boosted her confidence, allowing her to experiment more with her appearance.
Twain, returning to Las Vegas in August for her “Come On Over” residency, embraced aging by trying pink hair. While she told the outlet that “going gray is just one of those things” we all have to face, she decided to embrace it and enjoy the silver lining.
“Whatever I can’t change, I need to have fun with,” Twain explained. “What I wanted to get used to was, ‘What do I look like with my hair going lighter and lighter and lighter and lighter?’”
“The pink surprisingly made me feel younger, looking younger somehow,” Twain added. “And it’s so light, it’s practically gray.”
In fact, Twain feels that her pink era helped her reconcile eventually going gray.
“When I’m entirely gray, if I ever do want to hue my hair, I know I’m gonna look great,” she said.
The singer revealed that she felt at ease with approaching 60. “I don’t have a choice. I can’t change it,” she admitted. “I’m not afraid of aging. What a waste of my energy to worry about that and to fear that.”
